At the center is a 2.61 carat cushion cut tanzanite. It is a AAA grade, top quality gemstone with wonderful color saturation and excellent clarity. The hue is predominantly blue with flashes of purple. This is the most desirable color in tanzanite. The AAA quality is difficult to find, and constitutes only 1% of all tanzanite production. There are 0.85 carats of diamonds in the ring (that's about 4 points per diamond!) and the diamond halo surrounding the tanzanite really draws the eye in. There are 14 brilliant cut round diamonds set around the sapphire and 4 on each side of the band. The setting has an open basket design which allows a lot of light to pass through and reflect from the tanzanite. The yellow gold setting enhances the color of the tanzanite for a warm, rich and intense look. The overall design is simple and classic and for someone that is looking for a eye-catching piece without an ornate design, this particular style is an ideal choice.
