MyJewelrySource offers many styles of amethyst rings
from three stone, or past present future, designs to antique or vintage
styles to diamond halo or diamond accent settings. Our most petite design,
GR-2075, features
a gorgeous oval amethyst in a 3 stone setting flanked by either white
sapphires or diamonds. Beautiful engraving has been added to the band to
give an antique feel to the design. This ring is classic and elegant and
is perfect for someone who prefers a smaller, very wearable ring. We have
other 3 stone rings with princess cut amethyst,
GR-2079,
round amethyst,
GR-2101, or cushion cut amethyst,
GR-2093. These are done with white sapphire accent stones and are
available in white or yellow gold. We do offer other metals, like
palladium or platinum, by special order. One of our original and favorite
rings is our
GR-2027. This ring features a 8mm round checkerboard faceted amethyst
with diamond accents. The gemstone is featured prominently and with just a
touch of diamonds, the ring is tasteful, elegant, wearable and noticeable!
If you love the soft pastel shade of the green amethyst, this wonderful
design is also available with the green amethyst in
GR-2069. Amethyst
is the February Birthstone and the
suggested gift for the sixth wedding
anniversary . Amethyst is mined primarily in Brazil and Zambia. Amethyst rates 6 1/2 to 7 on the Mohs
scale of hardness.
Although cutting is the most basic enhancement method necessary to display the beauty of a
gemstone,
there are many fascinating methods by which man has demonstrated his ability to draw maximum color, luster,
clarity and brilliance from natures earthbound treasures. A basic understanding of these enhancement techniques
will add to your appreciation of the beauty, durability and value of the
gemstone jewelry you
already own, or plan to purchase in the future. Some amethysts are heat treated but the darker colors of amethyst
are rarely enhanced to perfect their color. Heat treatment is industry accepted, permanent and does not require
special care. You should assume that the amethysts sold at MyJewelrySource are heat treated.
Amethyst Care: Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner on amethyst. Avoid sudden temperature changes,
steaming and contact with cosmetics, hairspray, perfume or household chemicals. Your amethyst jewelry may
be cleaned with a soft-bristled brush or a cloth with plain or soapy water.
