Sapphire Heat Treatment
Disclosure
This sapphire has undergone traditional heat treatment only. At MyJewelrySource, we are committed to offering high-quality, ethically sourced sapphires with transparent treatment information. | ![]() |
Most sapphires available in the market today undergo traditional heat treatment - a time-honored, industry-accepted method used to enhance color and clarity. This treatment is permanent, stable, and considered standard practice by all major gemological laboratories. Approximately 99% of sapphires used in jewelry are heated, and most of our sapphires fall into this well-accepted category unless otherwise noted (when they are untreated). We also proudly offer a select few untreated sapphires, which are prized for their natural, unenhanced beauty and rarity. ______________________________________________Important Educational Note when Shopping for Sapphires elsewhere:
Unfortunately, some sellers fail to clearly distinguish diffusion-treated sapphires from traditionally heated ones. Diffusion-treated sapphires are far less valuable. We believe in full transparency and aim to empower you to make informed decisions. What you Should Know about
Sapphire Diffusion Treatment
Our sapphires are not diffusion-treated. Diffusion treatment involves heating sapphires with the addition of elements such as titanium (used to intensify blue color) or beryllium (used to alter color in yellow, orange, and some pink sapphires). These treatments affect only the surface of the gemstone and are not considered equivalent to traditional heat treatment. Diffused sapphires:
