Important Note About Beryllium-Diffused Orange Sapphires | |
At MyJewelrySource, we are selective about the treatments we accept. While we normally do not sell diffusion-treated sapphires, we've made a careful exception for only one orange sapphire that has been treated with beryllium diffusion (pictured). |
Why? Vivid orange and reddish-orange sapphires do occur naturally, but they are extremely rare and often come in softer, less saturated hues. To meet ongoing customer demand for bright, intensely colored orange sapphires, we offer a limited selection of diffusion-treated stones - clearly disclosed and responsibly priced. What is beryllium diffusion? This treatment involves heating sapphires to high temperatures in the presence of beryllium, which penetrates the crystal lattice and alters the stone's color. The result is a permanent change, often transforming dull or greenish stones into vibrant yellows, oranges, and reddish-oranges. Disclosure & Care Beryllium-treated sapphires are accepted in the trade when properly disclosed. These stones do carry a lower market value than untreated or traditionally heated sapphires, and special care should be taken during sizing, polishing, or recutting, as such procedures could affect the color. We remain committed to ethical practices, full transparency, and offering unique gems for customers seeking standout color at an accessible price. |
